Cabana Queen & King

August 18, 2010

Just call me Queen Nefertiti.  Seriously.  Because this latest addition to our back patio has me feel like I have my own cabana boy, or my own palm frawn waver as the case may be.  Chris is also sitting like a king.  Okay, so technically, neither one of us are in Egypt, or in a cabana for that matter.  And we’re not lying on a nice comfy settee with plant leaves waving above us keeping us cool.  But it kind of feels like it because of our most recent project!!!

But, if you wanted to find a cushion for the wicker couches you see way down there…

…then you would actually have to call it a settee cushion.  Trust me…I know.  Because after we scored such a great deal on the wicker benches, I was bound and determined to find a sea foam green cushion for each.  I wanted it to be a tropical sea oasis in my backyard.  Yes, it is cliché.  So what?  I live in California, and I have palm tree dishes in my dining room, and I wanted a “beach themed” backyard.  If the shoe fits, I suppose.  Anyway, I digress.  Said sea foam cushions were nowhere to be found, though I did discover that the cushions were called “settee” cushions during all my searching.

But, we found cushions that would work (read: in Katie’s ridiculously low price range), and plopped those suckers down on the comfy benches.  So now, I can say that I relax on a settee in my backyard.

But back to the palm fronds.  Boom.  Look what the king my handy husband is hanging above our outdoor living room. [My sincere apologies for the lack of technical details.  Quite frankly–I have no clue how to do this.  It’s very complicated, and after the 2-3 hours I spent handing him things while he installed it, I definitely understand why people PAY to have this done.  Fortunately, our labor is free!].

Yes–this is indeed one of the outdoor projects that I promised you back in this post.

Need I say more?  It’s heaven in our backyard.

Only one thing could make it a little more wonderful.

Ahh…yes.  Those.  In my palm tree glasses, no less.  This, my friends, is bliss!
